WOLF THEISS HOSTED WOLF THEISS LAW CLUB SEMINAR

On 19th of April the Bulgarian office of Wolf Theiss hosted a Wolf Theiss Law Club Seminar. The event gathered 20 in-house lawyers and representatives from leading companies, banks and financial institutions in Bulgaria.
The seminar highlighted some key aspects of anti-bribery measures and the need of compliance with the increasing regulations on both local and international level. Richard Clegg, Partner at Wolf Theiss Sofia, presented examples of how the UK and the USA Bribery Acts apply to investors in CEE/SEE as well as steps the companies should undertake in order to protect their business and ensure compliance with the requirements.
Speakers also included Neli Nedkova, Senior Associate at Wolf Theiss, and Dessislava Iordanova, Associate at Wolf Theiss, who addressed the most important regulations and requirements that have to be considered in advertising. They presented recent cases and practice of the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) and highlighted the characteristics of misleading advertising and how the companies can avoid it.
Different issues surrounding data protection and transfer of data within and outside the EU were presented by Maria Danailova, Senior Associate at Wolf Theiss Sofia. Maria paid special attention to the risks of processing personal data and the EU standard contractual clauses used for transfer of data outside the EU/EEA.
